چکیده
Introduction: Cholecysto-hydatid fistula is a very rare complication of liver echinococcosis. We report the case of a patient with hydatid cyst fistula to the gallbladder accompanied by cholecystitis. Patient information: 50-year-old patient admitted to emergency department due to pain in the upper right abdominal quadrant. Imaging studies (ultrasound, CT) showed parasitic cyst in the IV segment of the liver coexisting with a fistula with an inflamed gallbladder, as well as two other smaller cysts. Intra operatively rupture of the cyst into the peritoneal cavity was observed. Excision of the gallbladder and the adjacent cyst en bloc was performed. Histopatological examination revealed protoscolices of Echinococcus granulosus. In the postoperative period complicated such as severe bacteremia, wound suppuration and intraperitoneal abscesses developed, despite the use of antibiotic therapy. Spectacular clinical improvement was achieved after using polyclonal immunoglobulin. Conclusion: Echinococcosis is disease with an insidious course. Communication of hydatid cysts with the biliary tract can cause a severe clinical course with numerous complications.

Spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture of hepatic hydatid cyst with biliary peritonitis: a case report
INTRODUCTION Spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture with biliary peritonitis in a case of hepatic hydatid cyst is extremely rare but serious complication. It is a surgical emergency with high morbidity and mortality rates. Very few cases have been reported in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION We report an unusual case of a biliary peritonitis due to spontaneous rupture of hepatic hydatid cyst in...
متن کاملHydatid Cyst: Enteric Fistula in a Patient with Disseminated Abdominal Hydatidosis
Disseminated peritoneal hydatidosis is rare. Infrequently hydatid cysts can rupture into adjacent organs. We report a case of secondarily disseminated peritoneal hydatidosis with rupture into the gut presenting as hydatidorrhoea. A 26-year-old man presented with passage of white ‘grape’–like structures with stool. Ultrasonography showed disseminated hydatidosis. Magnetic resonance imaging furth...
متن کاملSpontaneous giant splenic hydatid cyst rupture causing fatal anaphylactic shock: a case report and brief literature review.
Hydatid disease is a parasitic infection characterized by cyst formation in any organ, although the liver and lungs are most commonly involved. Hydatid disease of the spleen is uncommon, representing <8% of all human hydatid diseases. Splenic hydatid cysts usually coexist with liver hydatid cysts (secondary form), although the spleen is the primary location (primary form) in some cases. The cli...
متن کاملRupture of Hydatid Liver Cyst into Peritoneal Cavity Following Blunt Abdominal Trauma; a Case Report
Hydatid cyst is a serious parasitic infection in places, which people has a close contact with dogs or sheep. They may be found as an incidental findings during routine clinical examination or even followed by radiographic or ultrasonography evaluation. The disease becomes more complicated if rupture of the cysts occurs due to blunt trauma or spontaneously increases of intra-cystic pressure. He...
متن کاملPrimary bilateral intrapelvic hydatid cyst presenting with adnexal cystic mass: a case report.
Hydatid disease, caused by Echinococcus granulosus, is a common parasitic infection of the liver. Disseminated intra-abdominal hydatid disease may occur with the rupture of the hydatid cyst into the peritoneal cavity, producing secondary echinococcosis. But primary hydatid cyst in the pelvis is rare. We report a case of bilateral hydatid cyst of the pelvis in a 53 years old woman presented with...
